Renault Clio Rally3

Renault Clio Rally3

The Clio Rally3 follows the Clio Rally5 and Clio Rally4, which were launched in 2020 and 2021 respectively to provide the next step in the FIA’s international rally pyramid. Both cars have enjoyed considerable success in ERC events and domestic rallies. While the Clio Rally5 is designed to be accessible to all drivers and the Clio Rally4 is focused on two-wheel performance, the Clio Rally3 is the perfect stepping stone into the world of four-wheel drive. Built to current FIA regulations for Rally3, the all-new all-wheel drive rally special is based on the fifth-generation Renault Clio road car and will have the power to be deployed in ERC competitions.

The first Renault Clio with all-wheel drive is the brainchild of Renault’s design teams in Viry-Châtillon, Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé and the WT Alpine F1 Team in Enstone, UK.

According to Renault, “special attention has been paid to the search for performance and reliability thanks to the experience of the Viry-Châtillon teams. Combined with Castrol’s expertise, which helped optimise engine and gearbox lubrication, which is particularly important in an all-wheel drive car”.

The car’s rear spoiler is the work of the BWT Alpine F1 team’s engineers, who have drawn on their F1 experience to create one that is both simple and highly effective. The Clio Rally3 is equipped with state-of-the-art adjustable dampers from BOS Suspension. The electronic steering system is controlled by the Life Racing box, which integrates the engine and chassis data acquisition system. The car is equipped with Michelin tyres, another loyal partner of Renault’s racing activities for customers and a guarantee of proven performance.

Safety has remained a key aspect, thanks to the latest standard features. In addition to PFC brakes, the crew can rely on Sabelt seats that meet the new FIA homologation (valid for ten years) and six-point seat belts. Finally, for added comfort, the Renault Clio Rally3 is equipped with an adjustable pedal and steering column to suit all body sizes.

The Renault Clio Rally3 is expected to be homologated for competition use in April, making the car eligible for ERC events from the Islas Canarias Rally in May.
